Wash and pat dry the strawberries. Remove the top and cut the strawberries in halves.
Place the halved strawberries in the blender jar and add ice cream, vanilla extract and milk to the strawberries.
Blend for ten to twelve seconds until everything is mixed.
Divide between two glasses and top with whipped cream and more fresh strawberries.
Notes
Placing the glasses in the freezer will help the milkshake stay thick for longer.
For creamy milkshake, make sure you use full fat ice cream and whole milk.
For a thicker milkshake, add 1 cup of ice to the ingredients in the blender and replace more of the milk with heavy cream and add more ice cream..
Make sure the ice cream is slightly soft, but not melted.
If you like your milkshakes thinner, add more milk.
If using frozen strawberries, allow your ice cream to sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes before using, until it just begins to melt. Otherwise, you might have trouble getting everything to blend.
If you prefer a less-sweet shake or are using extremely ripe berries, you can omit the sugar, but I recommend using it since cold ingredients mute sweetness.
