One Pot Spaghetti
This One Pot Spaghetti a super simple recipe made with spaghetti, tomato sauce, basil, rich parmesan and a seasoned broth.

- 4 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil divided
- 1 cup yellow onion chopped
- 3 cups chicken broth or more as needed
- 1 28 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional for heat
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 250 g thin spaghetti
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1 cup 2.2 oz finely shredded parmesan, divided
Heat 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil in a 5 or 6 quart pot over medium heat. Add onion and saute 3 minutes. Add tomato sauce and saute 30 seconds longer.
Pour in broth, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Increase heat to medium-high and bring mixture to a simmer, stir in spaghetti.
Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer until spaghetti is nearly al dente, about 11 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
Let rest a few minutes off heat, add another splash of broth if needed.
Toss in 1/2 cup parmesan cheese and basil.
Drizzling servings with remaining 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup parmesan.
- Check the level of liquid with spaghetti. If needed add more, every pot will allow steam to escape a little differently so amount may need to be adjusted slightly.
- Don’t skip tossing halfway through for even cooking.
- Cook to al dente for a perfect bite.
- Use good quality olive oil and finish with extra, it improves the overall flavor of the dish.
- Use good quality broth as it increase the flavor of the spaghetti.
