- 1 cups warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 3 cup all-purpose flour or bread flour
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp salt
In a small bowl whisk the water, sugar and yeast together. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. If the yeast is good, it will start to froth up.
In the mixing bowl, add the flour, salt, olive oil and yeast mixture. Mix everything together until you get a smooth dough.
Shape the dough into a ball and place in an oiled bowl, rubbing oil on the dough as well, cover with plastic wrap and set aside for 60-90 minutes.
Deflate the dough to release air bubbles. Divide and roll it into circle. Add your favorite sauce, toppings, cheeses. Bake at high temperature for 12 minutes.
- Use fresh yeast for the dough. You know the yeast is still good if it foams. If not, toss it and get a new batch. The dough needs to rise until it doubles in size.
- I like to place the bowl of dough in the oven with lights on to aid in the rising time.
- Don’t forget to brush the dough with olive oil before adding the sauce or toppings, which prevents the crust from tasting soggy.
