We love making homemade pizza. And I’ve been so guilty in the past of using store-bought pizza sauce. But there’s really no need to when you can SO EASILY throw it together at home. Not only is it budget-friendly, it tastes so much better!

Sure, it takes a little effort to make pizza dough from scratch, but it is well worth it. And if you are going to take the time to make homemade pizza dough, PLEASE make homemade pizza sauce. To make a really good pizza you need to start with good pizza crust AND pizza sauce.

HOW DO YOU MAKE PIZZA SAUCE FROM SCRATCH?

To make this homemade pizza sauce from scratch you need to blend the blanced tomato,onion and red chillies,and add garlic,tomato paste andsome seasonings, stir and cook till it thickens and you’re set to go. You can easily make it ahead of time and store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to make your pizza!

HOW LONG DOES HOMEMADE PIZZA SAUCE LAST?

Store this pizza sauce in a jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or cool completely and freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost on the counter or in the microwave before using.

WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN THIS PIZZA SAUCE?

You probably already have all of the ingredients in your pantry to make this sauce! The ingredients are:

  • Tomato
  • Red Onion
  • Red Chilies
  • Olive Oil
  • Garlic
  • Tomato Ketchup/Tomato paste
  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Dried oregano
  • Red Chili flakes
  • Granulated sugar
  • Black pepper
  • Salt

HOW TO MAKE PIZZA SAUCE?

  1. Cut the tomatoes into half and remove the eyes of them and add the tomatoes , Onion , red chilies into boiling water and cook for 2 -3 minute
  2. Remove the skin of the blanched tomatoes and add to the blender along with onion and red chillies. Grind to a coarse paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and saute garlic until the raw smell is gone. Then add the onion tomato paste and cook for few minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Taste the mix, add 2 tbsp of tomato ketchup and vinegar. Then add chili flakes, pepper powder and sugar to balance the sourness. Cook for a couple of minutes and finally add seasoning – Italian and oregano
  5. Cook for 3 minutes and turn off the heat.

EASILY DOUBLED (OR TRIPLED)

This easy pizza sauce recipe is easily doubled or tripled. I love serving it with a huge salad when we have guests. You can also make the crust into small personal pizzas and let the kids put their own toppings on it, which is super fun!

Don’t worry, making pizza sauce is easy and tastes SO much better than store bought pizza sauce. Jarred pizza sauce basically tastes like straight tomatoes. It is bland and always tastes off to me. Go the extra effort and make homemade pizza sauce to make the BEST pizza!

Ingredients
  

  • 6 ripe tomatoes
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 4 dry red chilies
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup / tomato paste
  • 1 tsp vinegar optional
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/4 tsp pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • Salt as required

Instructions
