Looking for a healthy dessert/snack to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings? This double chocolate banana bread is so moist, tender, and a chocolate lovers delight!

This ultra chocolaty, extra fudgy homemade chocolate banana bread recipe is super easy to make, and it’s great to serve for breakfast or dessert!

If you love classic banana bread, then this healthy chocolate chocolate chip banana bread recipe is going to knock your socks off!

NO Butter, NO Oil, NO All purpose flour, NO Sugar and NO Egg! Yes, this cake is made of whole wheat flour, ripe bananas, maple syrup and applesauce and is loaded with lots of chocolate chips for that lovely taste and soft texture!

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED?

  • Whole Wheat Flour – This is our absolute favorite flour to make healthy kind of bread loaf with. You could substitute white flour, or even a gluten-free flour blend!
  • Mashed Banana – The riper the better when it comes to bananas and banana bread!
  • Apple Sauce – It gives nice soft texture to the cake, but you can also swap with coconut oil
  • Maple Syrup – A little bit of syrup goes a long way! Classic banana bread calls for brown sugar and if you’re looking for a substitution, then use coconut sugar or brown sugar or honey!
  • Cocoa Powder – since this is CHOCOLATE chocolate chip banana bread, the cocoa powder is essential!
  • Chocolate Chips – Don’t skimp on the chocolate chips when making banana bread. Just trust me.
  • Almond Milk – I love the nutty flavor of almond milk, but feel free to use any kind of milk.
  • Vanilla Extract – we used 1 whole teaspoons in this recipe and I absolutely adore the flavor it adds.

CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA BREAD TIPS:

Here are some other helpful tips in making the perfect loaf of chocolate chocolate chip banana bread!

  • The bananas matter! The riper the banana, the sweeter! They are also easier to mash. One thing we’ve learned is that if you don’t mash your bananas enough, they will sink to the bottom, so just keep that in mind!
  • The pan you use matters, too! If you use a metal loaf pan, it distributes the heat more evenly, where there is more of a chance of uneven cooking in ceramic pants.
  • Do not over mix! Over mixing the batter will make your bread dense and chewy. Fold the wet/dry mixtures by hand just until combined.

And there you have it, an easy, wholesome chocolate chocolate chip banana bread recipe that is PERFECT for an afterschool snack, a mid-morning treat, or breakfast any day!

HOW TO STORE THIS BREAD?

Stays well for up to a week in refrigerator when stored airtight. Just warm it up for 15 secs in microwave before serving and its tastes fabulous with all that melted chocolate acting as a sauce.
